Nah, I’m a professional writer and editor, and a recreational athlete. But I do burn around 2,700 calories per day. According to MacroFactor, I’ve eaten 2,792 calories per day (on average) over the past three months, while gaining 2.6 kilos, which works out to a TDEE of 2,730.

That’s pretty close, though! I described it to a friend as what you’d get from a personal trainer fresh out of high school who gets their first client, panics, googles a bunch of stuff, and throws something together based on that google search. Read more

It’s funny, I feel like I’ve got things pretty well calibrated these days (knowing what is true vs what I feel) but a lot of how I did that was with outside help! Like sending a video to my coach of my gut-busting “RPE 8” lift and he’s like “that’s like 5-6 at best, try again. Read more

Taco Bell’s “Cheesy roll-up.” It’s not usually on the menu, but they always have it. It’s just a tortilla with melty cheese, rolled up into a thin cheesy tube. $1. Kids love it, which entirely excuses them for not having a real kids’ menu. Read more

Taking up a whole nother hobby just to get a pistol squat is mayyybe overkill :) But I totally agree! I started working on pistols in my roller derby days. “Oh yeah I can shoot the duck” turned into “wait, pistol squats are supposed to be hard?” Read more

That’s a good feature. Unfortunately a lot of basic kitchen scales have added the idea of a volume measurement without the menu that lets you choose what you’re weighing. Mine is from GreaterGoods and has no such menu.  Read more
